Notes for Thomas Faist (Faißt)
Information source: (unless otherwise noted)
1. ‘Ortssippenbuch der Pfarreien Klosterreichenbach und Schwarzenberg im Kreise Freudenstadt Württemberg 1648-1808’: von Günther Frey. Includes Tonbach.

Notes:
1. The parents of Thomas Faist are unknown.
2. Thomas Faist, resided in Höfen Tonbach (the part of the Tonbach village area where the farms are located). Vorderer Tonbach is a small village located near Klosterreichenbach (near Baiersbronn).
3. Thomas Faißt is most probably the progenitor for all Faist-families in the Murgtal (near Weisenbach, the valley where Baiersbronn is located) area. Additional information on Thomas Faist from the the Inventory and Dividing Register, Page 342 ff, about 1661: He is married with Anna, (the widow of the late Georg Seid). In her first marriage she had no children. She owns her father-in-law’s, the late Hans Seid, Hof (farm). Thomas brought in part of his heritage in Schapbach near Wolfach. Up to his death in 1675 (on the 4th Sunday of Advent, 1675; referenced to be December 20, 1675), a Christian Faißt, a Catholic of ‘Wolfischer Herrschaft’ (Wolfic Dominion), lived on the Hof. Christian Faist was born about 1621. Due to his name one must assume that he was Thomas Faist's brother or cousin. Therefore, it might be that Thomas Faißt originally came from Schapbach, near Wolfach.
