Origin Location in Poland
Johann Wojewski was born in Czestkowo; Rosalia was born in Przetoczyno. Johann’s mother, Francisca, was born in Milwino. All three villages are small (less than 500 inhabitants each) and are about 5 miles from each other. They are in Wejherowo County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The three villages are within the Luzino (Lusino) parish boundary (Catholic Church).
These three villages are about 10 miles south of Wejherowo and 21 miles north-west of the regional capital of Gdansk (formerly known as Danzig). The area was formerly known as Prussia or West Prussia, and was part of the German Empire. The villages are in the historic Kashubian region.
The names of the three villages has changed over time. For example, Czestkowo (today) was recorded as Crestkau in the baptism/marriage/death records of our ancestors (circa 1820s-1870s). And under the German Empire, the village was named Grunberg.
